In recent articles I described the main features of “different” trainings that lately have become so trendy in gyms. Here is an editorial: food for thought, guru and myths of fitness, advices … with a little of irony.
I often receive the question, in spite of Internet, where you can find all sorts of material: “ so, what training do I choose? What do you do in this or that one?
Answer: they are types of training, not methods, so the approach and exercises follow a very general outline.
Bottom line: it’s mainly up to the trainer.
TIP 1 – SHOPPING AND FITNESS
You can skim according to your needs and what attracts you, remembering that, although there are many courses (classic ones, “functional”, “interval”, strength conditioning, not to forget the new patented Zumba, Dance and burns, Crossfit …), everyone wants to be fashionable, personal trainers want to sell private session and fitness centres want to sell courses.
TIP 2 – FALSE GURU, FALSE MYTH
I would avoid the “wizards of fitness”, which foist their training on to clients as a Panacea.
Unfortunately there is not such a course that can be considered total and complete, perhaps the arts (martial and dance) are the closest ones to that concept … However, in all these methods there is a little of everything ‘, with the difference of where the emphasis is, both depending on the type of activity, both on the trainer.
A key factor against the past is that if before there was a clear break between trainings, depending on whether:
– You practiced a sport or an art (warm up, general and targeted training according to the discipline, with “final game”)
– You went to the gym (body building, fitness room, training room),
Now the sport coach integrate its preparation with fitness elements and “gym” tools and fitness instructors, vice versa, insert in the various trainings, moments of classic sports training (shots, circuits, floor exercise). This happens also thanks to the recent scientific researches on how the body reacts to physical activity, to different types of efforts, as they interact with the metabolism, with the pressure, with the strength and the resistance.
DISCOVERY OF THE CENTURY? …NO! – IRONY OF COURSE? …YES
We did not reinvented the wheel… we analyzed it.
What we all seek is an improved well-being, so let’s find a course and a trainer who we like, who is fun and, of course, is professional.
To be updated and aware is an achievement and a goal but to be too specific or convinced (if you are not a pro) it is just exaggerated and misleading.
IRONY: LET’S HAVE FUN WITH THE CHOICE IN BETWEEN THESE TRAININGS
Do you want a course that will aid you in daily life? Choose a FUNCTIONAL one… sooner or later you will be able to collaborate with a gardener, a house mover or others who perform work of “strength”, and so will join business and pleasure (fit and paid)
Do you want a course that tires you out within 2 minutes? Choose an INTERVAL TRAINING … every 2 minutes you will regret signing up, but you will have 30/60 seconds rest to motivate youa again.Great for those who want to vent anger and frustration without blaming it on the real guilty party.
You want a course that s you to the real life, to the streets? Try CIRCUIT TRAINING, the BOOT CAMP that are so fashionable, or life paths in parks, CROSSFIT … one station at a time you will understand how to roll away from those who bother you, lift them up, through yourself to their side and do push-ups, get up and jump them to run like hell, taking shelter on a tree on which you will know how to climb.
ZUMBA, DANCE AND BURNS, and counterparts? For those who have not yet learned to squirm at the disco or for those who, due to changes in lifestyle, age and taste do not go out after 11 pm … if we add a BURLESQUE we can also treat marriage crisis and separation / divorce after-effects … or any other mental disorder on our sensuality.
– Enjoy whatever you choose …
– Move with awareness in every situation,
– Learning what you don’t know yet how to do
– Do everything with a smile
